bus rides which would detract from the Kindergarten experience. If a nine-month half-day Kindergarten program could be implemented, thus cutting in half the number of teachers and classrooms needed, building costs, classroom equipment and salaries could be reduced drastically. This money saved could be used for die additional bussing.

Local organizations could be encouraged to raise money to help equip the classrooms. If a full day Kindergarten is the only answer, perhaps the Virginia State Department of Education could be persuaded to change the entrance date to September 1 st to allow only five - year-olds to enter Kindergarten.

These are but a few suggestions to help solve this necessary change in our school system.
