Prom Page 5 and Mrs. C.T. Smith’s Quail Hollow, a first-time starter ridden by Kathleen Gartlan in her first . race, was third, followed by Donna Truslow on Dr. Joe Roger’s Virginia Volunteer, a little brother of King of Spades, in his first race.
THE SECOND division was a three-horse race most of the way between Mrs. Redmond Toerge’s Orsinette Smile, Patty Cassel’s Never Delay and Laurie Haynes’s War’s End. Never Delay was in die lead as they rolled down the mountain on the final lap. Orsinette Smile, with Joey Reuter in the irons, hugged the inside of the turn at the bottom, gaining ground, but they couldn’t catch the leader. Four were close together over the final fence, where Welsh Bard fell, f and as they turned down the stretch Casino made her usual good run. But it was Never Delay’s day again as he won for the second time over Orsinette Smile. Third was Susan Green’s Man’s Friend (Casino), followed by War’s End.
