hurdle race. Kevin Palmer’s Kool Kake won this owner-rider race by less than a nose over Doug Worrall’s Iron Man’s Orr. Third was Charles Owens on his High Peak, who won last week’s race at Casanova but was disqualified there for causing Kool Kake to fall.

The eight starters in the Durant Hill were closely bunched as they left the post, with High Peak, Kool Kake and Sagitta in front. Kool Kake and High Peak traded the lead several times with High Peak having the edge on the final turn into the stretch. But from the tenth and last fence to the finish the three horses raced head and head, stride for stride.
