Oliver Fraser Atkins, 60, of Washington, Va. died January 9, 1977 at his residence, “ Claire - lea.” He was a professor, publisher, writer and well known photographer.

Ollie Atkins was the personal photographer for Richard Nixon while he was president of the U.S. He was a staff member of the Saturday Evening Post and worked with the Washington Post and the old Washington Daily News. Mr. Atkins travelled with Nixon everywhere including trips to China, where he did extensive photography. He published several tx>oksof photographs.

Mr. Atkins was a native of Hyde Park, Mass., the son of the late Oliver Fraser Atkins and Annie Susan MacLeod. He had lived in Rappahannock County for several years. He was a .member of Christian Science.

Survivors include his widow, Marjorie Deakin Atkins; two daughters, Mrs. Dale Wheeler of Poolesville, Md. and Mrs. Randi Shumate of Baskin Ridge, N. J.; a brother, David Atkins of Bridgeport, Conn.

Services were private. Clore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. □

Smoot

Lemuel Jackson Smoot, 85, of Culpeper died January 6, 1977 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital. A retired farmer and a former resident of Rappahannock County, he was the son of the late Robert Ashby and Elizabeth Riley Smoot. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lelia Burke Smoot; two daughters, Mrs. Benjamin R. Jenkins of Culpeper and Mrs. Robert L. Butler of Brightwood; six sons, Isiah Smoot of Brandy Station, Robert J. Smoot of Poolesville, Md., William F. Smoot, Keithen E. Smoot, David O. Smoot and Asa B. Smoot, all of Culpeper; 58 grandchildren and 45 greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday by the Rev.Gordon D. George at the Geest Funeral Home In Culpeper. Burial was in Hillcrest Memory Gardens near Jeffersonton. □
