FIRE, RESCUE

January 4 the Amissville Rescue Squad responded to a traffic collision on Route 637 but services were not used. On the 7th Mrs. Frank Walter was taken to Fauquier Hospital by this unit.

Amissville Fire Company answered a call January 7 to a chimney fire at the L. J. Jenkins home on the T. W. Latham property. An overheated furnace at the apartment building in Amissville required a call to the fire company January 9.

Park visits up

A total of 70,200 people visited Shenandoah National Park during December 1976. This is an increase of .14% over the previous December. F<>r the calendar year 1976 there were 2,714,400 visitors to the Park while in 1975 the total was 2,686,500. This is a 1% increase during 1976.

Weather statistics at Big Meadows show the maximum temperature as 53 degrees and the minimum minus 1. Precipitation during December was 2.59 inches and 7 inches of snowfall. □
