To fill expired positions, the Supervisors appointed Carter White from Boston to the Welfare Board, and reappointed Francis Thornton to the Chapter 10 Board and Bob Anderson to the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District Commission.
At the close of the open meeting, the Board adjourned to a long executive session to discuss Welfare and Sheriff’s Department personnel.—Daphne McCullough □
Garden club
The Rappahannock County Garden Club will meet Wednesday, January 19 at two o’clock at the home of Mrs. Allen Stokes, “Orchard Hill,” Sperryville. Mrs. M. F. Biddle is co-hostess. Mason Hutchison from the VPI Extension Office in Culpeper will speak on evergreens and holly. There will be no Garden Club meeting in February.□
Donaldson cited
Morris T. Donaldson, Jr. of Huntly who is a junior in communications at V.P.I. & S.U., Blacksburg, was among the 818 students in Virginia Tech’s College of Arts and Sciences who made the dean’s list during the fall quarter. Donaldson was also one of the 155 who made all A’s or a perfect 4.0 average.
To make the dean’s list at Tech, a student has to make a 3.4 average or better in the University’s 4.0 grading system. A 3.4 average is the equivalent to a middle B average. □
