»The first ten years of my life were spent in beautiful Washington, Va. I am now 26 years old; we moved away 17 years ago. Last week 1 returned to the hold house, W- which is called Avon Cottage. This is the white house behind Mr. Carrogon’s Avon Hall.
My father is Jack Petty and my mother is Jo Ann. We had many friends and family members living in Washington, Va. My childhood was a happy one. Washington offered much and our family was pleased to live there.
Last week, I returned to the old home place. I was very touched at seeing all that I had not seen in 17 years. This time I did not return alone or as a child. I returned as a women with my small daughter. I told her about my childhood here; Washington has remained practically unchanged and unspoiled in all these years. I was glad to be home and very sad to leave.
On the following page you will find my thoughts and feelings on coming home. I would like to share this ‘ with you and your reaaers for publication in the Rappahannock news. I would be very pleased.
