our birthday parties under was gone and the big magnolia that kept us busy with its leaves was also gone. The path that we had around the house made by our toys had finally filled in with grass.
I walked on, I paused, 1 was remembering. The pond, down by the Lake Motel, where we fished as kids, had been covered over by a double lane highway, and the dielicate wild purple violets that we used to pick until we could hold no more, were victims of the highway too. The school across the field, where I attended the first three grades is now an old shell of a building with a “no trespass” sign to all its passers-by.
So much was gone, yet so much remained. I actually picked daffodils and hyacinths that mama had planted there about 20 years ago.
