nock compares with that part of Loudoun in quality of soil. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that this county is so privileged in that respect that no threat to its most precious resource should be permitted.
And it needn’t be. Let’s get thinking about all the matters touched upon on pages 2 and 3 of last week’s News, and perhaps something vital can be done to defend Rappahannock against despoilers and deserters. Especially should effort be initiated immediately to reverse the situation described on page 8 in the last paragraph concluding the lead story from page one: “The same 62.5 per cent of the seniors (theoretically the most advanced intellectually of the school body—my comment)... indicated that they had no plans to continue their education.”
Education is a process that must be a living part of every day of one’s life. It should never cease.

Your editorial on “1078 lots” is eloquent. What more do we need to know; that just to build on the existing sub-division lots will double our population? I appeal to your readers to make their views known in letters to you for publication, to the Planning Commission for consideration, to the Board of Supervisors for action.
And how about the meeting for farmers proposed in your columns on March 31st? Give us guidelines mi how to stop this destruction of farms by the land butchers.
