Program
The Rappahannock Athletic Association will hold an organizational meeting for a fall soccer program on Monday. August 7, at 7:30 at the elementary school. Anyone interested in helping with this recreation project planned for boys and girls, ages seven to 17, is urged to attend Monday’s meeting. Volunteers do not have to be soccer experts. In fact, it is not necessary to have any experience with the sport at all although Association spokesmen hope that a few ex-players will show up.

A young woman was assaulted and raped last Wednesday evening about 9 o'clock as she walked on Routes 642 and 646 between Amissville and Viewtown. After the ordeal she was bound and gagged by her assailant and left in a field near the roadside, according to a local deputy.
The suspect, wielding a long, thin knife, jumped from the bushes and forced the victim down an embankment where she was assaulted and raped after being made to commit sodomy.
The victim was discovered by a resident of the area who informed officials. She was taken to Fauquier Hospital. Warrenton, for examination and treatment.
The area was searched following the incident with a trained dog and an Intense investigation is being made by local officials with assistance from sex squads and officers of several other counties.
