Matching state and local payments to the disabled show an increase of $2,162—from $1,956 to $4,118—in the proposed budget. Mrs. Buntin estimated two clients at $171.60 apiece per month but noted that the per capita charge could vary. She explained that clients for this service are allowed to keep $25 per month of personal income. The rest goes toward the bill from the institution to which they’ve been committed. Any unpaid balance on the institution bill is paid by a supplemental grant to the disabled but only up to the rate ceiling set by the local welfare board.
Since the Rappahannock Welfare Department currently has no cliehts for assistance to the blind, Mrs. Buntin reported that she’d included nothing in this category in the proposed budget. She added that funds could be transferred from assistances to the aged or disabled, should the need arise. Mrs. Buntin included $3,024 in general relief, a decrease of $1,103. The Flint Hill Methodist Church will hold Sunday School at 10 a.m. and church service at 11:15 in the Flint Hill fire hall on Sunday, March 4. The change in location is due to a malfunctioning furnace in the church.
