The first Fodderstack Classic, a six-mile foot race open to anyone interested in running, is scheduled for Saturday, April 21 from Flint Hill to Washington, Va. by way of Fodderstack Road. The race, sponsored by the Rappahannock Recreation Center, is geared not only for the serious runner, but for those who run just for fun.
Entry blanks may be secured from the local banks, stores, post offices or the Rappahannock Clerk’s Office. Deadline for preregistration is April 14 with a fee of $5. After that or on the day of the race the entry fee is S6.
National Fruit of Winchester has donated apple juice and Warrenton Pepsi Cola has donated Pepsi for the contestants at the end of the race. The first three winners of the race in each class will be given a trophy handcrafted by Jeanne Drevas and all who finish will receive a tee shirt.
