English series has been selected with the BLS in mind, and a greater awareness for student needs has been achieved. It has been emphasized that the BLS represents the minimum requirements for each grade level.
Although, the program this year is limited to grades one through three, the state plan is to expand it next year to the fourth grade and the following year to the fifth and sixth grades. Any parent interested in securing additional information on the Basic Learning Skills or interested how he or she can assist the child in mastering these skills should contact the classroom teacher.
