Rappahannock's solid waste disposal problem has been resurrected from the private land fill in Woodville where it was buried by the board of zoning appeals in February. 1 ^ 7 7.
As of June 30, 1979, the county has been without a dump—either private or public—where trash can be disposed of legally.
Rappahannock’s dilemma over what to do with its garbage came to a head in late 197b when the Orange County dump was closed to out-of-county contractors. The action left Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Updike of Community Trash, the holders of the county's trash disposal contract, without a waste disposal site.
After first rejecting property near Boston as unsuitable, the board of zoning appeals granted a special use permit to Clifton and June Clark in February, 1977. to have a landfill on eight acres located on Rudasill’s Mill Hoad near Woodville.
