Fred William Jenkins of Sperryville was shot and fatally wounded while picking cherries in a tree. Charged with the murder was Robert Festus Jenkins, no relation, who told Sheriff C. K. Estes he was out squirrel hunting when he saw the tree branches move and saw something gray which he thought was a squirrel.

Vemer, Rayner Snead, Matilda Walker, H.B. Winfrey, Galley Smith, Mrs. R.L. Massie, Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson, Miss Lucy Mae Smith and a host of others.
A preliminary hearing of the Commonwealth versus Raymond W. Dealing was conducted Tuesday.' Dearing was held on twrf counts: hit and run and involuntary manslaughter in the injury and death of Mrs. J.E. Updike and infant daughter who were struck by an auto while walking on the > highway near Washington.
Miss Lucia Blake Ziegler of Staunton and I.R. Kilby of Sperryville were married in St. John’s Methodist Church in Edinburg.
