The Rappahannock County Garden Club honored Helen Fairfax and Christine Johnston in a surprise ceremony at their Christmas luncheon held at Bowling Green Country Club recently.
Christine Johnston, a 1979 inductee of the Garden Club, was awarded State Life Membership in the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs for her service to the Rappahannock County Garden Club.
Helen Fairfax, past president of the club and State Life Member of the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs, was awarded National Life Membership in the National Council of State Garden Clubs for her many years of dedication to the Rappahannock County Garden Club since joining the organization in the eariy ’70s.
Mrs. Fairfax continues as an active member and has just commenced a three-year stint on the club’s Scholarship Board.
Judy Halle and Helen Bridges hosted the beautifully arranged luncheon and it was served before a , roaring fire in the ballroom of the ■'dub. “ Scarves, hats, gloves and mit► tens were wrapped in gay Christmas [ paper and donated by the mem► bership for distribution by Social ’ Services to the less fortunate.
The 1992 Fauquier-Rappahan* nock County Master Gardener r Course will be taught during Feb: ruary and March at the Extension Office in Wairenton. Classes will be 1 held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 * a.m. to noon, starting Feb. 4.

It did not include the mountain ' skyline at the top but was otherwise the same as his original, with a shield on a blue background. The } shield features the company flag of the county’s Civil War cavalry unit at the top, with a torch, book and apples lower down.
Thomas Tepper also entered a k revised version of his original entry. ; The design is somewhat simplified and also includes a shield with a horse pulling a plow in place of a tra; ctor at the top.
