Critzer of Washington, "Ya^Jias tendered his resignation as sheriff of Rappahannock County, effective January 15. He has held this office for eleven and a half years. Mr. Critzer was appointed by Judge J.R.H. Alexander on May 18, 1950, to fill the unexpired term of James Lilian!, ending December 31, 1951. He duly qualified before the Clerk of the Court, James M. Settle, and took the oath of office the same day. Mr. Critzer was opposed in the November ’51 election by Robert W. Brown and was re-elected by a great majority with the vote at 541 to 268. In the Democratic primary of July 1955, Mr. Critzer was opposed by Joel Jenkins and Jake Keyqer and again he was reelectechtb office with a landslide vote. The election of .1959 brought Frank Huff as a candidate in opposition to Mr. Critzer and though the count was closer than at any other time, the incumbent was re-elected for a third term. Charles K. Estes of Sperryville has been appointed to fill the unexpired term of Mr. Critzer.
Miss Barbara Louise Jones of Portsmouth, Virginia, and presently employed as Assistant Home Demonstration Agent in Dinwiddie County, will assume the duties of Home Demonstration Agent in Rappahannock County on January 16, 1962. This position has been vacant since November 16, due to the
