Michelle Egan, a senior at Wakefield School in Marshall, won “best in show” for her Science Fair exhibit exploring* various environments of brine shrimp. The Science Fair featured 40 exhibits by prep school students in addition to exhibits by students in the pre-kindergarten through grade 7.
The four divisions of the show were judged by experts in the various fields. Gary Fillmore, a biology teacher at Woodson High School in Fairfax County, judged the biological sciences exhibits.
Linda Daniels, a doctor of radiology with Virginia Radiology Associates, juried the medical and health sciences displays. It was her first time as a judge for the Wakefield show and spent over two hours finalizing her decision.
The chemistry and physics exhibits were judged by Brian Patterson, an instructor of chemistry and physics at Rappahannock High School and a representative to the Piedmont Regional Science Fair.
Finally, in the earth and space science division, former Science Department Chairman Art Zoebelein acted as judge.
