a variety of topics from basic botany and soil science, to fruits, vegetables, ornamentals, and landscaping. The course is appropriate for both beginning and experienced gardeners, as well as new county residents unfamiliar with Virginia growing conditions. Course participants are required to return volunteer service to the community in horticulture related projects.

Information and registration forms are available from the Extension Office. Call 703-347-8650 or 6753619. Cost for the course is $40, which includes the 500-page Virginia Master Gardener Handbook. Registration is due Jan. 10.

A Master Gardener course is also j being offered starting Jan. 14 at Piedmont Technical Educational Center, six miles south of Culpeper U.S. 15.

A $45 fee covers the cost of the handbook.
