PUBLIC NOTICE PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT the Architectural Review Board of the Town of Washington, Virginia will hold a public discussion with the Town's Attorney at its regularly scheduled meeting on January,1L 1996 at 7:30 o'clock P.M. at the Town Hall on Gay Street inJWaslWgton, Virginia. The public is invited to attend and participate in the discussion. ^ It is expected that the discussion will indtfde, but will not be limited to the following topics: 1. General overview of the purpose and history of the Historic District Ordinance as relates to state law and in the Town of Washington; 2. Review of the record of approvals and denials of the Town of Washington ARB; 3. Review of Section 5.2 (Matters to be Considered; Erection, Reconstruction or Substantial Alteration) of the Historic District Ordinance especially as to how it relates/compliments/conflicts with other Town Ordinances (zoning, planning, etc.); 4. Review of Section 4.3 (Certain Minor Actions/Alterations Exempted from Review); 5. Definition of "landmark” structures; 6. The Concept of "compatibility" in the Historic District Ordinance; significance" of structures not only in themselves but as they relate toadjoining structures; concepts of "open space" and "encroachment"; 7. Relationship of ARB duties to 'the Town of Washington Comprehensive Plan; 8. Level of detail on documents approved by ARB; in sufficient detail to obtain desired results. Franklin B.
