whomever wishes to speak. The speaker is not afraid to reveal self doubts or contradictory thoughts. Our purpose in speaking is not to show how clever, or right we are, but to contribute to a more compassionate understanding of each other’s point of view, and if it is possible, to a general consensus. When one person is finished speaking (s)he puts the flower down. Out of respect for this personas contribution, there is then silence as we think about what was said.
