Paul Nichpls is an excellent choice for Citizen of the Year.
Paul will tell you that during his 40 years as a Boy Scout leader, he has received as much from the Scouts as he has given to them as their leader.
Paul Nichols is a good example that being a Scout leader is a terrific way to become involved in our community, especially for men who don’t have Scouting-aged sons of their own.
Even though Paul’s sons are adults now, he continues as a Scout leader. The assistance he provides to the other volunteers who have Scouting-aged sons is very valuable.
Scouting provides exceptional opportunities for men to teach boys how they can become men of good character.
This is done is adventurous ways which these men might not otherwise experience: canoeing on white water rapids, backpacking up a mountain peak, “dog sledding” in a winter klondike derby, or simply roasting marshmallows with two dozen boys over an open campfire on Big Bastard' Mountain.
As boys grow up, they need adult male companionship from men outside the home. They need men who will deal with them, not on an authoritative or parental level, but as a mature adult to an aspiring one.
