“Jon Butler played big for me tonight,” Coach Baltimore said of the game that left him relieved over the win but frustrated with the play. “I’ll give the kids credit. They didn’t quit. They kept fighting and fighting.”
Although his team lost, Coach Luther Stanley was happier with their play. The JV lost a heartbreaker 53 to 52 after leading 27 to 25 at the end of the first half.
“The ball club gave 100 percent,” Coach Stanley said. He was particularly pleased with the play of R.J. White, Daniel Settle and Jason Baldwin. “They played a good hard game,” he said. “Michael Baader gave me a lot of hustle,” he added. “A couple of bad passes didn’t help any, and Page played a good game too.”
Athletic director Mike Tupper is perplexed about how to make up games missed this week. He said he will consider scheduling home games for Saturday. The regular basketball season must be completed by Feb. 19 in time for the tournament and the volleyball season must be completed by Feb. 17. In addition the semester exam schedule keeps changing because of missed school days, and Mr. Tupper wants to avoid scheduling games for the day before an exam. “There are not a lot of open dates in January or February,” he said.
