at least the following three steps to help the nation through year 2000 conversion.
1) I urge the President’s Council on Year 2000 Conversion to continue to make information available to the American people over the Internet. The Internet has become one of our most useful and effective communication tools. With time limited in which to deal with Y2K conversion, we need to take advantage of the Internet.
2) I respectfully call on you to make a “prime time” televised address to the nation early in January with a progress report and plan for Y2K conversion compliance. Government officials have a responsibility to keep unfounded panic and hysteria from occurring. If concern is warranted, we must inform the public and provide leadership through any problems. Mr. President, you alone have the power of the Presidential pulpit which provides you with a voice to the nation. I urge you to communicate and
