“It must have been an incredible burden and pressure to bear,” Higgs said. “Now at least they have some closure from knowing she has been found.”
Higgs declined specifics about the condition of the body, pending an autopsy that will be conducted Tuesday at the Office of the Medical Examiner in Fairfax. An anthropologist will assist in making positive identification, although Higgs noted that authorities are reasonably certain the body is that of the missing woman.
Law enforcement, using K-9 teams and the Virginia State Police helicopter, conducted searches each day in the Fauquier-Rappahannock area, and recently asked owners of large tracts of land to walk thenproperties and look for evidence that might lead to Pruitt.
