Coordinate programs designed to provide employment services and * training assistance to veterans. Evaluate work history, education, | training, and qualifications of Veteran job applicants and other eligi- ■ ble persons. Prepare and fill employers' job orders by referring J qualified Veterans through job development and file search. Identify ( Veteran applicants and other eligible persons with special needs ■ and make referrals for supportive services. Develop community J support by effectively marketing VEC services with special emphasis ■ on Veteran job applicants Also performs a variety of duties in administering employment programs designed to match applicant ~ qualifications with job opjx>rtunities. Interview claimants and assist ‘ them in filing all types of claims for unemployment compensation. ! Explain program requirements and answer questions from claimants 1 and employers. j
Candidates shall be considered from among qualified veterans, 1 with preference given to disabled veterans as required under ) Title 38. Working knowledge of interviewing techniques Knowledge ' of the application of regulatory/ statutory provisions to specific cir- ] cumstances. Ability to communicate effectively with employers and i the public: discuss, interpret, and apply special agency program ] standards and procedures; readily adapt to changing priorities and i workload. Prefer experience in interviewing, employee selection, 1 personnel, or community work in employment or training programs; } public speaking; working on a team; using automated systems; key- 1 board skills. University/ college graduate or high school graduate J with considerable related experience. Successful candidate must ■ pass a credit check and a criminal conviction investigation.
