Two Rappahannock students. Amber Welch and Jeffrey Simeon received the prestigious President’s Student Service Scholarship awarded by the Salem Ruritan Club recently. The annual family night and awards dinner honored eight students, two from Rappahannock and six from Culpeper County.
The $1,000 each award was for community service. These scholarships recognize students who have participated in activities that have a significant impact in meeting the needs of local communities. Each high school in the U.S. may select two students, either at the junior or senior level, who have contributed at least 100 hours of community service during a 12-month period.
Amber Welch plans to continue her education at Mary Washington College.
