quently reflect his love of the ocean. Steve’s work exhibits the technical mastery of the medium one would expect from an illustrator but then his imagination and creativity take over. His paintings of landscapes, flowers and birds are rendered in a masterful and harmonious blend of realism and impressionism. According to Steve, “Basically I just want to paint lovely pictures of beautiful things.”
From Oct. 27 through Nov. 19 Richmond artist Eleanor Cox will show her new travel and garden inspired watercolors in the gallery. Eleanor will be welcomed with a reception on Oct. 27.
Eleanor’s dramatic watercolors sing with an astonishing clarity of color and light achieved only by true masters of the medium. Inspired by her extensive travels in Europe, Eleanor’s travel inspired landscapes resound with the magic of the farms and villages she visited. Her en pleinaire paintings of her extensive gardens near Richmond are convincing examples of why watercolors are such an expressive medium for fresh landscapes and florals, captured in the moment.
