The Bowen reunion will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Rappahannock Park near Washington. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish.

Youth Alive Sports Day set

All young people are invited to the Youth Alive Sports Day on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 3 to 10 p.m. at Stuart Field in Amissville, located off US 211 between Amissville United Methodist Church and Hackley's Store. Sports, music, food, friends and fun will be highlights of the evening.

Blue Moon schedule

Blue Moon Cafe will be closed Aug. 10, 11, 17 and 18, however, will reopen with open mic on Aug. 23 and a full schedule. Joe Bowling will perform on Friday, Aug. 24 and Bobby Glasker and the Blues Hawkes will be playing Aug. 25. Blue Moon Cafe is located on US 211, just west of Sperryville.

Summer trail rides

The Rappahannock Hunt is currently sponsoring summer trail rides. On Sunday, Aug. 12 the ride will be held at Manwaring Gate at Woodville at 10 a.m. On Sunday, Aug. 19 the ride will be held at Bruce Mountain at Reva at 10 a.m.

Clinic will be open Aug. 15

The Rappahannock Free Clinic, a local operation of the Fauquier Free Clinic Inc., is currently open on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. The clinic will be open next on Aug. 15. Patient registration is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Public Health Department Building. For additional information call 347-0394.

Disability Board to meet

The next meeting of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Disability Services Board will be Thursday, Aug. 16 at 10 a.m. to be held at the Madison County Social Services Building at 101 South Main Street, Madison.

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Disability Services Board serves physically and sensory disabled citizens from Rappahannock, Madison and Orange Counties. The public is invited to attend. For more information call Cindy Rickett, Staff Support at 829-7450.

Show at Middle Street

The second student-teacher art show is currently underway at Middle Street Gallery and will continue through Aug. 26. The show includes the work of Sculptor Charles Flickinger, Mixed Media Artist Jeanne Drevas, Water Colorist Lois Manookian and students from Madison County High School, as well as members of the Middle Street Gallery. Adult and youth art will be shown. The gallery is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

RRCSB cancels meeting

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board has canceled its Aug. 14 meeting. The next regular monthly meeting of the Board will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. at the Bradford Road Office, Culpeper.

Activities at Dreamtime

A Kitchen Cosmetics seminar will be held at Dreamtime Center for Herbal Studies near Washington on Aug. 18. Learn how to make, package, label and market your own natural health and beauty cosmetics. Lots of recipes will be given and through demonstration, you will create your own shampoos, hair rinses, facial toners, foot powders and more. The cost is $60 which includes all materials. Taste of Rappahannock set

Mark your calendars for Saturday, Sept. 15 and make reservations now to attend Headwaters’ third annual fundraiser, “Taste of Rappahannock”. Proceeds from this event will support the many projects sponsored by Headwaters that directly benefit the County’s public school students.

The ‘Taste of Rappahannock” will again take place at the Washington School on Mt. Salem Avenue in Washington. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Headwaters office at 675-1819. Ticket prices for the fundraiser will once again be $100 per guest, of which $75 is tax deductible. The Headwaters office is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
