The pre-Christmas activity was fast and furious as some teams did extremely well and others faltered. The wrestler’s stayed on the road, traveling to North Stafford and Buffalo Gap High Schools over the past weekend and continued to do well.
The Varsity Volleyball Thant ran into some rough sledding and couldn't regain the form they had against Madison the week before. But the Boy’s Varsity Basketball Tfeam came on like gangbusters and ripped the Shenandoah District for two thrilling wins.
Wrestling
The Rappahannock Varsity wrestling team traveled to Swoope, Va. and competed against Buffalo Gap and Monticello High Schools in a trimeet on Saturday, Dec. 15. In their first meet of the day Rappahannock faced Monticello.
Monticello, a double “AA” school, is unbeaten and is the top team in the Charlottesville area. The RCHS grapplers fell to the Mustangs by a narrow 36 to 34 margin. Rappahannock helped Monticello when three of its wrestlers lost after taking leads in their matches. | These three matches contributed a 21-point swing, which proved too much to overcome. Results of the first contest with the Mustangs are indicated in the results box.
In the second match of the day, Rappahannock faced regional opponent Buffalo Gap. This was Rappahannock’s second meeting against a Regional B opponent; having wrestled the Stonewall Jackson team in it’s opener.
