Vote on Feb. 10
On Tuesday, Feb. 10 Virginians will go to the polls to vote in the Democratic Presidential Primary. This is the first step in selecting the Democratic nominee for President of the United States. Anyone registered to vote in Rappahannock County may participate, and voters’ names will be added to the Democratic poll book. The polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the regular voting places in each precinct. Community services
The Rappahannock-Rapidah Community Services Board and Area Agency on Aging will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m. at 15361 Bradford Road, Culpeper. 'Fireside chat' on Feb. 13
The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community (RAAC) welcomes everyone to attend a "Fireside Chat" featuring Sperryville native and author James Russell at its Friday at the Library series on Feb. 13 at 8 p.m. at the county library. Russell will be discussing his recently released book, "Beyond the Rim: From Slavery to Redemption in Rappahannock County," in which he captures the life and times of his great grandmother, Sister Caroline Terry, who grew up as a slave on various plantations in Rappahannock County, lived through the Civil War, bore the children of a white slave master, and lived to the age of 108.
George Washington contest
With George Washington's birthday fast approaching, Rappahannock County Library announces its 2004 George Washington Picture and Word Poster Contest. Picture posters will be accepted from K - 5th grade and Word Posters from 3rd - 5th grade. Word posters may include both essays and poetry. Posters may not be larger than 24 x 24 inches. Home schooled and public and private school students must be residents of Rappahannock County. Entries are due at RCL by Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 17. All entries will receive a participant's award.
