Special to the Rappahannock News

The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community (RAAC) is thrilled to present Cliff Waldron and the New Shades of Grass in concert Friday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Theatre at Washington, 291 Gay Street. ,

Waldron is a legendary bluegrass guitarist who was influential in the 60s and 70s in modernizing and expanding the bluegrass repertoire, bringing such familiar favorites as “Fox on the Run” into the genre.

While the time has traditionally been linked to the 1970s ensemble Country Gentlemen, and the English rock band Mannfred Mann, Waldron’s then Washington, D.C. based band Emerson and Waldron himself were responsible for the song’s introduction into bluegrass.
