For the secQnd year, Wakefield Country Day School’s sports program has offered “dance” as a challenging and creative option for students seeking to obtain a sports credit during the academic year.
For 2004, nine girls in the Upper School , have spent at least two hours every afternoon for the last three months, painstakingly putting together their own creative dance routines, some modem, others classical, as part of their extracurricular activities.
Wakefield's dance troupe consisted of Mary Davis, Carie Marschner, Cecilia Marschner, Kelly O’Connor, and Lindsay West of Front Royal, Joy Heddleston of Sperryville, Brittany Kearney of Culpeper, Robin Oyster of Castleton, and Katherine Russo of Flint Hill. The team’s hard work culminated in an opportunity for them to compete in a statewide competition at Kings Dominion, as well to give a performance at the school several weeks ago.
