remodeling their home, Tom was reluctantly "adopted” when he was found going through boxes in their living room. Although he was free to come and go, Tom was well liked, well fed, and decided to “stay put a while.” Perhaps he also forgot how to get back down the mountain to his own home?
With our happy reunion, Karen asked if they could come see Tom greet his brother again for the first time in all these days. So the Maxwells followed us back to our house. We brought Sawyer out to the car to meet his long-lost brother. After sniffing to see who was who and what was what, Tom and Sawyer affectionately smothered each other with cat kisses on the face and soon forgot their mutual ordeal as they picked up where they left off almost two weeks ago.
Tranquility and happiness have returned once again to Fogg Mountain. Sawyer is sleeping on my desk as I write this story and Tom is on his nearby favorite chair, all cuddled up on a lambskin rug. Both have feasted on their favorite food and treats and are about to go to sleep, perhaps to dream of future conquests and adventures. Hopefully closer to home next time.
