Rappahannock County Administrator John W. McCarthy announced last week that the County has (received a 2:1 matching grant

ti Virginia Tburism Corporation to support the develipment and marketing of an official county wide tourism website.
The County applied for the grant in partnership with the Tbwn of Washington, the Washington Hospitality and Visitors Association, the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community and the Rappahannock Non-Profit Center, each Of which pledged to contribute financially to the tourism project. Other supporting partners include the Rappahannock Business Alliance, which will provide Copies of the Rappahannock Visitors Guide as a fulfillment piece (in-kind value of $1000,00); the Rappahanhock Historical Society; and Shenandoah National Park. ; The Office of the County Administrator served as the fead partner in applying for the grant and will manage the project. The County has allocated $15,000 in funding over FY 2008/FY2009 toward development and marketing of the tourism website. Contributing partners pledged the following amounts: Town of Washington - $3000.00 over two years, Washington Hospitality and Visitors Association - $1,000.00, the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community - $1000.00 and the Rappahannock Non-Profit Center - $1,000.00.
