“The support of the organizations partnering in the application was spontaneous.” said Barbara Adolli. who serves on the board of the Non-Profit Center as a business and tourism representative. “We all have the same goal, that is to support our businesses, increase tax revenues for the county, and preserve the Rappahannock County that we love. Sustainable tourism is one way to do this.”

The Virginia Tourism Corporation reports that “every $1 invested in tourism marketing brings $5 back to Virginia in taxes.” Rappahannock County offers many of the attributes that are considered most desirable by travelers today. The proximity of Rappahannock County to the sophisticated audiences of the Washington, DC metropolitan area and the Mid-Atlantic region make it an ideal destination for leisure travel. Opportunities for meetings and special events also offer potential revenue for local businesses.
