Bringing together the social, environmental and economic aspects of food systems is the emerging movement of buying fresh, local and sustainably produced or grown foods and farm products.
Many food businesses and buying institutions are purchasing local foods because of increased consumer demand, health, safety and nutritional concerns, as well as a viable business and marketing strategy.
Virginia Cooperative Extension would like to invite all interested farmers, county and state officials, food purchasing institutions ana businesses and interested residents to attend a work group meeting exploring how we can create a community food system throughout Virginia's piedmont.
