It was the first escape by any of the dozen inmates who have participated in the county’s work-release program since its creation a year ago, Rappahannock County Sheriff Connie Smith said.
Before he was found hiding in an apartment in Madison and taken into custody early Tuesday by sheriff's deputies there, Ronald J Galusha w-as the target of an intensive investigation and manhunt bv sheriffs deputies in Rappahannock and sheriffs and police officers in Culpeper, Smith said.
Galusha, now charged in Rappahannock with escaping custody and felonious destruction of property (the bracelet', grew up in Rappahannock but was without a fixed address at the time of his imprisonment. He remains at Rappahannock County^ail, "locked down and wathout privileges,” said Chief Deputy Scott Jenkins.
It was in Culpeper County that Galusha began serving, in September, a 14-month sentence for grand larceny, after being convicted of stealing a computer, TV and other items from the office of a family friend.
