RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR

Loudoun County

Department of Mental Health. Mental Retardation, Substance Abuse Services is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Residential Counselor to work in the Division of Mental Retardation Services. This position will work in Residential Services in the 24 hour Group Homes and the In-Home Support program. Primary responsibilities are to provide assistance and training with daily living activities with emphasis placed on the highest level of client participation in all aspects of community life, including home. work, family and the development of meaningful relationships. The hours include daytime, evening, overnight and/or weekends. Musi be proficient in Microsoft Office software. Bachelor s degree in Psychology,Special Education. Social Work, or related field. Must lx- able to periodically lift 50 pounds, bend, stoop and stretch. Highly prefer six months related experience. Prior to beginning work, certification in Medication Administration. CPR. First .Aid, and Therapeutic Options or an equivalent behavior management certification is preferred. Frequent behavioral interventions are necessary and can include physical redirection and restraint. Must be accessible to contact by the on-call supervisors or Group Home supervisor, as needed. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background, credit, driving record checks and TB test. Must have a valid driver s license.
