reported that Rapp Junior Varsity Panthers “lost a heartbreaker in three to the Clarke Eagles at Clarke County” on Oct. 6.
After a slow first game of 14-25, the “second game was all Rapp ” Coach said that “the girls talked to each other, moved their feet, and never looked back en route to a strong 25-17” win.
In the tie-breaking game, “Rapp jumped out to an early lead” but lost 12-15. “Once again, inexperience was a factor” as they “let themselves get rattled by an older team,” said the coach.
Despite the loss, there were several strong Panther performances. The Paul sisters shined in the serving arena: Lyndie had “a perfect 8 for 8 evening” and Paige had “a 10 for 11 night.” Starter Shelby Burnett also “played an excellent game ... with some heads-up play on defense and some timely hitting,” the coach said.
