The deadline for subscribing to a listing and for reserving display advertising space in Rappahannock County’s 2010 Visitors Guide is Dec. 31, according to Jim Offutt, who publishes the guide through the Rappahannock Business Alliance.
The guide is a private publication supported by voluntary advertising and is used by the county’s Office of Tourism in the absence of any countydeveloped and funded publication.
Participation by local tourismbased businesses is voluntary. The guide is the primary marketing piece that the Tounsm Office uses in fulfilling travel information requests from potential visitors to Rappahannock. The county does not separately publish any similar brochure.
In 2009, the Office of Tourism launched an official free, countywide tourism Web site, VisitRappahannock VA.com, for listing and promoting all tourism and hospitality-related businesses and related organizations.
