Over the past year, 366 chapters in 43 states and the Canadian province of Ontario donated 19,120 turkeys to families in need during the holiday seasons of Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. From 2001 to 2008, NWTF members have donated a total of 90,856 turkeys to their communities which have fed more than a half million people.
The Rappahannock NWTF chapter recently has added to the statistics by helping those within the county For the past two years the Aaron Mountain Strutters (Rappahannock chapter) have been donating to Rappahannock Social Services for those less fortunate in the county.
This year the chapter was able to donate a total of 30 dinners to the food bank. Each dinner included a turkey, yams, green beans, com, cranberry sauce, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy. Half of the dinners were given out during Thanksgiving and the rest are being given out for Christmas.
