Powhatan Tag's Sold Powhatan county car tags are being sold by the Powhatan vol unteer fire department at Max ey’s store to raise funds for the fire department. Powhatan county does require the tags as a tax measure so the fire department has taken on the sale. Over 400 tags were sold in 1956. Watermelons Sold A ledger belonging to the late W. B. Dowdy turned up in the Cum berland Court House recently. Dowdy operated a saloon in Cum berland some years ago and the ledger covers the months May to August, 1902. Among the interesting entries is one that lists two water melons. charged to Dr. Garland for 11 cents. No wonder those were called the Good Old Days'.
