'Farm Boys Then and Now' An Answer To L. D. Whitaker’s Editor. The Farmville Herald I have a boy who's only nine. His farm life makes him sigh, He has chores to do every day As Doc had m days gone by. He has toilsome tasks to do That nightly he must repeat: You see there are still those of us Who use wood to furnish heat! The woodshed is still on lots of farms. And is yet a scene of toils. Ours hasn’t yielded to a heating plant Which is fed from a tank of oij! True, he doesn’t walk behind a plow'. But there are still chores to do. He must gather the eggs, feed chicks and calves, Then bring in the stove wood too! Sure, the bus brings him home ’bout four or so, I But homework he cannot do | Till all his farm chores are done. Then supper he must eat too.
