Two alumni and six members of Hampden-Sydney's senior class were recently extended bids to Phi Beta Kappa, national scholas tic society. The six students receiving bids are George Campbell Bird, Rich mond: Austin Barrow Harrelson, Blackstone: Henry Manna McVey, III, Richmond; Frank Stanley Moore. Jr.. Norfolk: William Lee Odom. Richmond: and Claude Graham Pembroke. Jr.. Richmond. Dr. William C. Barger, of New York, class of 1925 and Don P. Bagwell of Halifax, class of 1935. were the alumni chosen for the honor. Dr Barger will be guest speaker when the new members are recognized at school assem bly on Friday, April 12. Leading Psychiatrist Dr. Barger is one of the out standing men in the field of psy chiatry. He recently developed the Mirror Technique for teaching poor readers with mixed lateral dominance to read more quickly and easily. His work in this field has also included writing a book on the subject and an explanation of his technique and numerous lecture tours on the Continent and in the .United States. Mr. Bagw-eli is an attorney at Halifax. He received his L.L.B. froht, the University of Detriot.
