Marker At Hunting1 Tower Editor. The Parmville Herald: I enjoyed the sketeh of Peter Francisco in your issue of March !. There is a correction T'd like to make Hunting Tower 'not Towers . the home of Judge Anthony Winston, was at New Store. The site of the old home is about half way between Sheppards and New Store. After the war Peter operated a tavern at New Store and he was certainly living there in 1821 and 1822 as shown by the list of purchases from the store of my grandfather. William Dibrell Jones. My cousin, Mrs. Nannie Francisco Porter, the author of the ‘'Roman tic Record of Peter Francisco” was confused as to the location of Hunt ing Tower. She confused it with Locust Grove. I called this to her attention and she said she would correct future issues of her book. It appears that Peter lived for a t’me at Curdsville. See “Today and Yesterday." It is unfortunate. T think, that so | much has been written about his feats of strength—throwing horses and cannons around—and so little done to work out a chronological list of his homes, land ownings, oc cupation. family, etc. I have a thick lde on Peter Fran 1 cisco and have recently acquired a j lithograph of his exploit at Ward's tavern.
