Latham, who is the baby of the family, says she recalls a later day of attending church with her mother when it was a horse-andbuggy trip. “There was a ford to cross,” she says, “and I always began bawling before I got to it because I was afraid of the water when it came up to the hubs of the wheels.”
Among the fine preachers Mrs. Anderson recalls Rev. Sam Athey of Orleans, Fauquier county. The preac.hers used to spend the night in the county, “Sometimes they stayed at our house,” said Mrs. Anderson’s son, ‘‘and sometimes at Cousin Johnny Wood’s. Everybodys said the preachers liked to go there because the food was so good.”

Her family stands as a credit to her* Two cH the daughters" were school teachers. One son, Aubrey, went„ tb California in 1902 and worked as a farmer, driving a 32-mule team. He now has his own farm. The other son, J. N. Anderson, is a retired electrical engineer. There are ten grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren. One grandson, Francis Wendell Latham, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. <3. Latham, died in the service of his country, June, 1944, in Italy.
