4-H club meetings were in full swing this week. Four clubs were met by the Home Agent . . . these clubs were Sperryville, Forest Grove, Reager and Washington. It appears that we are going to have more 4-H’ers than ever this year. So far, the clubs that have met have more members in them than last year. The Forest Grove and Reager clubs chose officers: Joan Scott daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Scott of Castleton was elected president of the Forest Grove Club. Barbara Cubbage daughter of Owen O. Cubbage of Estes, was elected vice president. Billy Wood was elected secretary and treasurer. He is the eon of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Wood, Jr., of Amissv'iHe. Harold Ray was elected song leader and Ranny Gore game leader.
Margaret Ann Miller was elected president of the Reager club. Shelby Jean Williams was chosen vice president. Louise Williams secretary treasurer and reporter. Maybelle Williams was elected song leader and Rosa Belle Williams game leader.
As you know the Rappahannock County Fair will be held on the 30th of September at the Rappahannock County High School. I just know a lot of you women are going to enter many good things to eat. Since you are going to enter your best canned goods, cake, pies, etc., here are a few hinta as to how the judges will judge the entries:
Quick and Yeast Breads will be judged accordingly:
Appearance: shape and size, rounded, even 15 points; Crust: color, crispness, thickness 15 points; Crumb-: texture, lightness, moisture, color 30 joints; Flavor: taste, and odor 40 points.
