Local Co-operatives
The apple-packing co-ops had had a visit Friday from a delegation of Frenchmen and a German, in this country studying .the working of co-operatives in the fruit and vegetable industries.
M. M. Thomas, of the Department of Agriculture, accompanied the 11 Frenchmen and two interpreters on a planned tour connected with ECA, the Marshall Plan. The Frenchmen were sent by their own government for the study-tour, but the itinery wa9 arranged by the U. S. Department of . Agriculture. On the tour, for* this section only, was Harry Stiles of Martinsburg. The bus load was to continue their fiv'eweek tour as far west as Michigan and back through New York state.
