cmifiren in the rural areas who are forced to do the family shopping, special arrangements are being considered to have a reliable person do this shopping and to have the bus drivers pick it up. This idea evolved because of certain abuses of the privileges by some of the pupils of ■ former years.
Then there is the united conviction that soft drinks should not be sold at school for the time being, at any rate. Ice cream will be sold after lunch fpr those who desire it'. Again there is good reason for the ruling. Careful checking on the lunch habits and corresponding health improvement of the pupils would seem to be eloquent reasons for any parent who earnestly wants to see the children achieve the maximum development of physical and mental strength. Then there is the problem of adequate space for many of the fea-* tures desired by various interests. Suffice it to say that the school is not run for the interests of any one group but for the good of the entire school.
There is nothing , particularly new or revolutionary about any of the rules. Because the rules reach into more and more homes, understanding is increasingly necessary. It is sincerely felt that understanding will promote co-operation and co-operation will insure lasting success. It is also earnestly hoped that there is no one in the community of Rappahannock who is waiting to see the school' fall apart at the seams—and the sooner the better! Surely there is not a single person. All of the rules have been discussed care-4 fully and have resulted from a combined effort of all the teachers and advisors of Rappahannock High School.
May everyone do his part to see that things get off to a fine start so that the benefits realized by the pupils and their families of YOUR high school may be ever increasing.
